Pop-up Roof Creates Sleeping Space for Up to Two

First introduced to Japan in 1998 as Europe's first minivan, the V-Class created the premium minivan segment with its wide, square styling, refined interior, and versatile seating. Following full model changes in 2003 and 2015, cumulative sales have reached approximately 30,000 units.
The current V-Class, launched in March 2019, inherits the concept of diverse seating arrangements and rear-wheel drive while evolving in all aspects, including safety and quality. The V220d Marco Polo Horizon is a model equipped with the following exclusive features on this new V-Class.
The exclusive pop-up roof provides a separate, fully flat sleeping space for up to two people. Reading lights are included for a comfortable experience.
Furthermore, deploying the pop-up roof increases interior height, allowing it to be used as a makeshift changing room. A side awning with a roll-up function on the right side of the roof provides shade during auto camping.
The front seats can rotate up to 230°, enabling a face-to-face layout with the rear seats. The second-row seats are equipped with seat heaters and built-in fans for enhanced comfort, while the third-row seats feature a full-flat function, creating a spacious, flat interior.
Up to three people can sleep inside, and ample storage space is provided by the under-seat boxes.
A relay-controlled sub-battery is installed beneath the driver's seat, automatically disconnecting from the main battery when the engine is off, eliminating concerns about battery drain.
Curtains are fitted to all windows except the front and side driver/passenger windows, ensuring privacy for activities like sleeping in the vehicle.
Safety features include the "Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC" driving assistance system, "Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus," "ATTENTION ASSIST," and a "360° camera system" as standard. These features support long-distance driving and maneuvering in parking situations for the large V-Class.
The powertrain consists of a 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder clean diesel engine producing a maximum output of 163 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission, "7G-Tronic PLUS."
The "AGILITY CONTROL suspension" with a long propeller shaft to reduce shock and vibration during acceleration and deceleration, and selective damping systems, provides a refined ride. The price is 9.38 million yen.
