First Adoption of "AMG 4MATIC+" All-Wheel Drive System

The "Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé," developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG, has evolved into its second generation. The model released this time is the "Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé," a single grade.
The body dimensions are a wide and low style with a length of 4,730mm, width of 1,985mm, and height of 1,355mm. It is said to embody performance luxury by fusing Mercedes-Benz's fundamental philosophy of "Sensual Purity" with Mercedes-AMG's DNA.
By positioning the front grille low, the dynamic form is emphasized. The sides, with a long wheelbase of 2,700mm and short overhangs, create a dynamic proportion.
The rear features three LED combination lamps. An electrically retractable rear spoiler is also equipped, enhancing aerodynamic performance when deployed and adding a sharp, sports car-like accent to the styling.
Contributing to this styling is the newly developed vehicle architecture. A lightweight aluminum composite chassis also provides maximum rigidity, which is a key feature.
The "Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé" is a two-seater as standard. However, an optional 2+2 specification, allowing for four occupants, is also available, though the rear seats are suitable for passengers up to 150cm in height. This configuration is made possible by the newly developed vehicle architecture.
The torsional rigidity of the body shell has improved by 18% compared to the previous generation, while lateral rigidity has increased by 50% and longitudinal rigidity by 40%. The design ensures the center of gravity is kept as low as possible.
The interior features a styling inspired by aircraft. Combined with turbine nozzle-shaped air outlets, it achieves a sporty yet luxurious finish.
The seats, instrument panel, and door panels are finished in Nappa leather with accent stitching, and AMG-specific sports seats and AMG Performance steering wheel are standard equipment.
The 12.3-inch digital cockpit display and the 11.9-inch vertical media display feature AMG-specific content and displays to create a sense of exclusivity.
The interactive infotainment system "MBUX," which can be activated simply by saying "Hey, Mercedes," is the second generation and supports a variety of functions such as music selection, climate control, and lighting.
The powertrain is a combination of a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine (M177) with modifications such as changes to the intercooler mounting position, and an AMG Speedshift MCT 9-speed transmission. It produces a maximum output of 430kW (585ps) and a maximum torque of 800Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
Furthermore, it features the "AMG 4MATIC+" all-wheel drive system, which continuously varies front and rear torque distribution and can seamlessly switch between all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. This system also enables driving tailored to road conditions such as dry, wet, or snow, as well as drift driving in fixed rear-wheel drive mode.
In addition, it is equipped with the hydraulically actuated AMG Active Ride Control suspension, specifically evolved for the "Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé," and an AMG enhanced brake system, among other features, creating a truly special vehicle.
The "Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé" is available only in left-hand drive, priced at 27.5 million yen. Deliveries are scheduled to begin around late April 2024.
