Introducing the "Shadow Edition" MINI with a Unified Black Exterior and Interior
BMW has launched the "Shadow Edition," a special edition model of MINI's compact SUV, the "MINI Crossover," featuring a unified black exterior and interior. Sales have commenced.
Bonnet Stripes That Change Color With Viewing Angle Create a More Striking Design
The MINI Crossover was born in 2011 as MINI's fourth model. It evolved into its second generation in 2017, and in the fall of 2020, it received an update primarily to refine the exterior design and enhance functionality.
The newly introduced "Shadow Edition" is based on the "Cooper D" diesel engine model, with both the interior and exterior unified in black. The exterior uses black and silver as key colors, with the body finished in "Midnight Black Metallic."
The chrome surrounds for the lights, door handles, and rear logo, which are standard on other models, are all finished in piano black, creating a sophisticated style. The exclusive bonnet stripes and roof stickers were designed with the motif of light and shadow.
Most notably, the bonnet stripes feature a special finish that shifts from black to silver depending on the viewing angle, creating a striking design that emphasizes the SUV's inherent robustness.
The vehicle is equipped with sporty 18-inch black wheels.
The interior features an anthracite headliner and Carbon Black Leatherette seats, which are not available on regular Cooper models, as standard. The entire interior is unified in black. Exclusive touches like special door sill plates are also incorporated, adding a sense of exclusivity and cohesion.
Safety features include standard equipment such as Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, collision avoidance and mitigation braking, and LED daytime running light rings to enhance visibility. The infotainment system incorporates features like Apple CarPlay for smartphone integration, allowing iPhone display on the MINI's center screen for navigation and messaging, as well as MINI App connectivity.
The price is 5.01 million yen for the four-wheel-drive model and 4.77 million yen for the front-wheel-drive model. Deliveries are scheduled to begin after October 2021.
