On January 17, Chevrolet announced the "Corvette E-Ray," its first-ever hybrid AWD model, as a 2024 model, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Corvette's debut. This model combines a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine with an electric motor.

Total System Output: 655 hp

The "Corvette E-Ray," the first electric AWD in Corvette history. The powertrain features a 6.2-liter LT2 small-block V8 engine producing 495 hp driving the rear wheels, and an electric motor with a 1.9 kWh battery, installed in the floor tunnel between the seats, driving the front wheels with 160 hp. The total system output reaches 655 hp. It boasts impressive performance, with 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds and 0-1/4 mile (approx. 400 meters) acceleration in 10.5 seconds.
The intelligent electric AWD system constantly monitors road conditions and responds seamlessly according to traction and driver input. On low-traction surfaces or during hard acceleration, it supplies power to the front wheels to enhance vehicle stability while enabling powerful acceleration out of corners.
Tadge Juechter, Corvette Chief Engineer, commented, "The Corvette must deliver an exhilarating driving experience, whether on unpaved roads or the track, and the E-Ray makes that possible. Electrification enhances control in all situations, providing a level of stability beyond imagination."
In EV mode (Stealth Mode) for city driving, it can travel at speeds up to 72 km/h. The engine automatically engages when the speed limit is exceeded or battery power is low.
Additionally, drivers can select from six modes for electric assist: "Tour," "Sport," "Track," "Weather," "My Mode," and "Z Mode." A "Charge+" function is also available to maximize battery charging.
The exterior is 3.6 inches wider than the current "Corvette," reminiscent of the high-performance "Z06" model. Two models are available: a coupe with a removable roof and a hardtop convertible.
The introduction date in Japan has not yet been determined.
