Adopts new platform co-developed with Nissan and Mitsubishi; powertrain also renewed

The Captur, born in 2013, evolves into its second generation. The design, platform, and powertrain have all been renewed.
The exterior features a "floating" two-tone roof for a more muscular design. A white roof is paired with black body color, while a black roof is offered with other body colors.
The front and rear feature Renault's signature C-shaped light signature. The headlights are now 100% LED.
The CMF-B platform, co-developed with Nissan and Mitsubishi, is adopted. While lighter than the previous generation, it achieves high rigidity, enabling supple suspension movement and precise handling. It also contributes to improved engine bay sound insulation, safety, and reduced air resistance through underbody panels.
The overall chassis balance and rear axle setup have been revised, improving stability when cornering at speed.
The powertrain features a 1.3-liter direct-injection turbo engine, also found in the Lutecia. It produces a maximum output of 154 ps, 23 ps more than the Lutecia, and a maximum torque of 270 Nm, an increase of 30 Nm. The transmission is a 7-speed automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The body dimensions are 4230mm in length, 1795mm in width, and 1590mm in height, an increase of 95mm in length, 15mm in width, and 5mm in height compared to the previous generation. The wheelbase is also longer at 2640mm, an increase of 35mm. This expands the interior space and improves comfort.
The cockpit features a "floating" center console design. Placing the gear lever closer to the driver optimizes the driving position and facilitates shifting. The lower section includes a storage space with wireless smartphone charging.
The 7-inch Easy Link multimedia system allows for changes in driving modes. Connecting a smartphone via USB enables the use of various smartphone apps through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The redesigned front seats with heating are 15mm longer and have a more enveloping shape. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats can slide forward and backward by up to 160mm, optimizing rear legroom and luggage capacity, which can reach up to 536 liters.
The speakers utilize Bose's "Fresh Air Speaker" technology, a world-first. A compact subwoofer draws air from outside the vehicle, delivering rich, powerful bass without compromising rear luggage space.
Standard safety features include driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera, as well as preventative safety technologies like active emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and blind-spot warning.
The body is available in six colors. Pricing starts at 2.99 million yen for the entry-level Intense grade and 3.19 million yen for the higher-spec Intense Tech Pack grade.
