Porsche Taycan Achieves 7:42 Lap Record at Nürburgring

Porsche AG announced that its first all-electric sports car, the Taycan, recorded a lap time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, making it the fastest four-door electric sports car ahead of its world premiere in September.

The prototype Porsche Taycan achieved a time of 7 minutes and 26 seconds on the 20.6 km Nürburgring Nordschleife, often called "the world's most demanding circuit." This attack, along with others, has been part of repeated testing leading up to its world debut in September.

The Taycan is an all-wheel-drive model equipped with two motors on the front and rear axles. While conventional EVs typically use 400V systems, the Taycan is the first to feature an 800V system. It is also equipped with Porsche's 4D Chassis Control, comprising a three-chamber air suspension and adaptive air suspension.

Porsche states that to understand the thermal management process of electrical energy, which significantly impacts lap times, they have repeatedly simulated test runs on the Nordschleife since the early stages of Taycan's development.

Furthermore, the Taycan underwent rigorous testing, including 26 consecutive 0-200 km/h tests with an average time of under 10 seconds, and a 24-hour continuous run at the Nardò circuit in Italy, covering a distance of 3,425 km under extreme conditions with ambient temperatures reaching 42°C and track temperatures hitting 54°C.
Details of the Taycan's interior have also been unveiled.

The design draws inspiration from the dashboard of the first-generation 911, introduced in 1963. Designed with the driver's quick access to controls in mind, the instrument cluster features a curved 16.8-inch display capable of showing Porsche's signature round dials.

The instrument panel offers four selectable modes: a classic mode displaying round dials, a map mode, and a pure mode that shows only essential driving information such as speed, road signs, and minimal navigation arrows.

The dashboard extends horizontally, evoking the image of wings. In addition to the central 10.9-inch infotainment display, an optional passenger display can also be integrated.

Switches and buttons have been significantly reduced, with touch controls and voice commands activated by saying "Hey Porsche" now featured. Porsche claims this allows for intuitive control. Additionally, an 8.4-inch touchscreen on the center console enables adjustments for climate control and navigation input.

In addition to traditional leather, interior options include "OLEA" club leather, tanned using olive leaves, and a leather-free interior made from recycled fibers.

With the Taycan's full reveal imminent, we eagerly await its arrival.
