Two Powertrain Options: Diesel and Gasoline
The 250 series, positioned as the core model of the new Land Cruiser, has been launched.
Previously known as the "Prado," this model has been newly named "250." The Prado, which had shifted towards a more luxurious and refined direction over time, has now been developed with "a return to the roots" as its keyword, aiming to be easy to handle based on its off-road capability and to fulfill its role and mission of supporting the lives of many people.
With this full model change, the positioning of each series has been clarified: the 250 series, the core of the Land Cruiser focused on practical daily use; the 300 series, the symbol of the Land Cruiser; and the timeless 70 series.
The 250 series utilizes the same GA-F platform as the 300 series and incorporates features such as electric power steering (EPS), a first for the Land Cruiser. The body dimensions are 4,925mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,935mm in height (1,925mm for the gasoline model), with a wheelbase of 2,850mm, continuing the tradition established by the Land Cruiser 80 series.
The exterior also features a cabin-backward proportion, similar to previous Land Cruisers, with the cabin positioned rearward relative to the axles. Functional beauty is also pursued, such as the split bumper that allows for replacement of only the easily damaged corner sections.
Functionally, it is equipped with SDM (Stabilizer with Disconnection Mechanism), which allows switching the front stabilizer between locked and free states via switch operation. This achieves a balance of off-road capability and ride comfort, as well as on-road handling stability.
Two powertrain options are available. One combines a 2.8-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo diesel engine producing a maximum output of 150kW (204ps) and a maximum torque of 500Nm with an 8-speed Direct Shift-AT. The other pairs a 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 120kW (163ps) and a maximum torque of 246Nm with a 6-speed Super ECT transmission that electronically controls shift patterns.
Both drive systems are full-time 4WD, equipped with a Torsen LSD and an electric rear differential lock to enhance off-road capability. The rear differential lock increases the flexibility of front-rear driving force distribution, contributing to driving stability.
Land Cruiser 250 ZX "First Edition"
The two "First Edition" models, released alongside the new 250 series, also embody the keyword "return to the roots" for the Land Cruiser 250 series.
The ZX grade "First Edition" with the 2.8-liter diesel engine features special equipment such as round headlights that further emphasize the return to roots, matte black painted aluminum wheels, and 18-inch off-road tires.
Meanwhile, the "First Edition" based on the VX grade, available with both gasoline and diesel engines, features a special body color of Sand and a special interior color of Dark Chestnut.

Furthermore, safety features such as Toyota Safety Sense and Toyota TeamMates are also included, enhancing the equipment further.
All models share common items such as genuine leather seat upholstery, door trim ornaments with "FIRST EDITION" logos, and instrument panel garnishes, creating a sense of exclusivity.
In addition, to allow owners to customize their vehicles into "their own unique one," parts have been expanded. Beyond genuine Toyota parts, Modeler's items, and new interior and exterior items from "JAOS" and "Toy-Factory" are now available.
