Honda Europe Limited (Headquarters: Bracknell, Berkshire, UK; President: Katsushi Inoue) announced on March 3rd local time that it will launch "e: PROGRESS," an energy management service for electric vehicles (EVs) that balances the use of renewable energy with reduced charging costs. Initially Available in the UK, with Gradual European Rollout
e: PROGRESS is a service jointly offered by Honda, Moixa, a specialist in smart charging and resource aggregation, and Vattenfall, an electricity provider.
Subscribers simply input their required charging amount via a smartphone application and connect their EV to a home charger, such as the "Honda Power Charger." Through Moixa's "GridShare" system, charging will be automatically managed during the cheapest electricity rate periods, utilizing Vattenfall's variable electricity pricing. This is expected to help stabilize electricity demand and expand the use of renewable energy-derived power.
The service is scheduled to launch first in the UK within 2020, with subsequent expansion into Germany and other European countries.
The Honda Power Charger is an EV charger developed by Honda and will be released in Europe in early summer 2020, coinciding with the delivery start of Honda's EV, the "Honda e," and preceding the launch of the e: PROGRESS service.
