Lightweight Body and Torque-Rich PHEV System Combine for 0-100km/h Acceleration in 3.0 Seconds
McLaren's first series-production PHEV supercar, the Artura, made its spectacular debut in Japan, accompanied by the guitar performance of MIYAVI.
The Artura features the newly developed MCLA (McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture) and an updated power unit. It combines a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 585ps and peak torque of 585Nm with an E-motor and a 7.4kW battery pack, delivering a total system output of 680ps and 720Nm of torque.
Additionally, the E-motor, with a maximum output of 95ps, delivers an instantaneous torque of up to 225Nm, achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.0 seconds. McLaren claims this results in the sharpest throttle response of any supercar to date.
Thanks to its PHEV system, the Artura boasts the highest fuel efficiency in McLaren's history, with 4.6ℓ/100km (21.7km/ℓ) in WLTP combined mode, and can travel up to 31km on electric power alone.
The body, utilizing the MCLA (McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture), also contributes to this fuel efficiency and performance. Its functional "shrink-wrapped" aesthetic, born from the design philosophy of "form follows function," is constructed from carbon fiber and molded aluminum panels. Despite housing the battery, it achieves a lightweight of 1,498kg.
