The 3008 is Updated, Introducing Peugeot's First PHEV Model
PSA Group Japan has updated the Peugeot C-segment SUV "3008" with the addition of the plug-in hybrid model "GT Hybrid4" and a facelift. Sales have commenced.
The Most Powerful "GT Hybrid4" Combining an Engine and Two Motors
The updated 3008. The biggest topic this time is the introduction of the "GT Hybrid4," Peugeot's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model.
The "GT Hybrid4" features a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine with a maximum output of 200ps and 300Nm of torque, a front motor with 110ps/320Nm integrated into the PHEV-specific e-EAT8 transmission, and a rear motor with 112ps/166Nm, combined with a 13.2kWh battery for a four-wheel-drive unit.
With the addition of two electric motors supporting the gasoline engine, which has been boosted to 200ps, the system generates a total of 300ps/520Nm. The 0-100km/h acceleration is a European reference value of 5.9 seconds, making it the most powerful model in Peugeot's production lineup.
Furthermore, the "GT Hybrid4" can run on battery power alone, with a top speed of 135km/h and a WLTC range of 64km. In addition, four driving modes are available: "4WD" to maximize traction on all four wheels, "Sport" to enhance engine output for dynamic driving, and "Hybrid," the default mode upon system startup, offering the best overall energy efficiency.
Charging the battery is supported by standard charging only, with a full charge possible in approximately 5 hours using 200V/3kW or about 2.5 hours with 200V/6kW. Using a smartphone app, users can remotely interrupt or start charging, check the remaining time, and perform pre-conditioning operations such as activating the air conditioning in advance.
Exterior and Seats Also Refined with Peugeot's Latest Design Language
The facelift for the entire 3008 range incorporates Peugeot's new design language. Notably, the LED daytime running lights have evolved into saber-like fangs. The grille is now frameless, giving the SUV a more dynamic expression.
The interior also features new seats across all grades. These have been refined to enhance the softness, reduced fatigue, and comfort characteristic of French cars, while also being designed for a more modern visual appeal. Additionally, Peugeot's latest "i-Cockpit" continues to be standard, with its small-diameter steering wheel improving visibility of the instruments and enabling a compact driving position.
The safety equipment includes the latest generation ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), on par with the flagship 508 model. Features such as Active Safety Brake and Active Cruise Control, which detect pedestrians, cyclists, and operate at night, are included.
In addition to the PHEV, the powertrain options include a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine with 180ps/250Nm and a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder diesel turbo "BlueHDi" with 177ps/400Nm. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, a total of five body colors are available.
Pricing starts at 3,976,000 yen for the gasoline engine entry model "Allure," 4,320,000 yen for the "Allure BlueHDi" diesel turbo, 4,736,000 yen for the "GT BlueHDi," and 5,650,000 yen for the PHEV "GT Hybrid4."
