A 3.6-Liter Turbo Engine Paired with an Electric Motor

The "911 Carrera GTS," the first 911 to be equipped with a hybrid system, has made its world premiere, with reservations now open.
The 911 Carrera GTS is powered by a unit called the "T-Hybrid." The newly developed 3.6-liter flat-six engine, an increase of 0.6 liters over the previous generation, produces a maximum output of 357 kW (485 PS) and 570 Nm of torque on its own.
It also features a newly developed electric turbocharger. An electric motor integrated between the compressor and turbine wheel instantly increases the turbocharger's speed, allowing boost pressure to rise immediately. While previous models used twin-turbochargers, this new iteration employs a single turbo. Porsche states that this electric turbocharger delivers dynamic and responsive power delivery.
The electric motor in the turbocharger also functions as a generator, reportedly producing up to 11 kW (15 PS) by utilizing exhaust gas flow.
Furthermore, a permanent magnet synchronous motor integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) supports the flat-six engine with up to 150 Nm of drive torque, increasing output by up to 40 kW.
These two electric motors are connected to a lithium-ion battery with a maximum capacity of 1.9 kWh. The electric drive for components like the air conditioning compressor eliminates the need for belt drive, allowing for a more compact engine unit and contributing to the increased displacement.
This "T-Hybrid" system delivers a combined total output of 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm of torque. The weight increase over the previous model has been kept to just 50 kg.
In terms of performance, it achieves a top speed of 312 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds. Notably, its lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife was 7 minutes and 16.934 seconds, an improvement of 8.7 seconds over the previous model.
The chassis has also undergone comprehensive suspension improvements. Rear-axle steering is now standard, enhancing stability at high speeds while also reducing the turning radius.
Meanwhile, the updated 911 Carrera also sees a power increase. The 3.0-liter flat-six engine with twin-turbochargers, previously exclusive to the GTS model, now produces a maximum output of 290 kW (394 PS) and 450 Nm of torque. Its top speed is 294 km/h, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package), marking an improvement of 0.1 seconds and 1 km/h respectively over the previous generation.
The exterior features new model-specific bumpers with active aerodynamics, and all lighting functions are integrated into matrix LED headlights with a four-light graphic. This design eliminates the need for front daytime running lights, creating space for larger cooling vents at the front.
At the rear, the light strip design has been modified, and the license plate is positioned higher, resulting in a cleaner rear bumper structure.
The Coupe model is standardly configured as a two-seater, but a 2+2 seating arrangement is available at no extra charge. Inside, the cabin offers a significantly evolved experience, including the first-ever fully digital instrument cluster for the 911.
Pricing starts at 16.94 million yen for the 911 Carrera, 19.43 million yen for the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 22.54 million yen for the 911 Carrera GTS, 25.03 million yen for the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, 23.65 million yen for the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, 26.15 million yen for the 911 Targa 4 GTS, and 26.14 million yen for the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet.
