BMW M2 Special Edition: 10 Units Only in Japan, Collaborating with FUTURA2000

BMW has produced a limited run of 500 units worldwide of the "M2 Edition Designed by Futura2000," a special edition model born from a collaboration between its compact sports coupe, the M2 Competition, and the globally renowned contemporary artist FUTURA2000. In Japan, only 10 units were released.

FUTURA2000's Artwork Adorns Interior and Exterior

This special edition model was unveiled in February 2020 at the "2nd Frieze Los Angeles," an art fair held in Hollywood, USA. It is a model that realizes a collaboration between the circuit-oriented M2 Competition, developed by BMW M and equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 410ps (302kW), and a world-famous contemporary artist.

FUTURA2000 has been a pioneer in abstract graffiti art since the 1970s. In the 1980s, he was active alongside artists like Basquiat and Keith Haring as a trailblazer of graffiti, and he remains one of the artists the world watches today.

The exterior of the "M2 Edition Designed by Futura2000" is characterized by multiple irregular lines reminiscent of lightning bolts, interspersed with FUTURA2000's signature designs, such as circular saw blades.

Furthermore, a misty silver paint is applied in places, accentuating the vehicle's contours and highlighting its presence and power as a high-performance model. The wheels are 19-inch jet black, harmonizing with the design.

FUTURA2000's world is also expressed in the interior. Designs drawn with the same concept as the exterior are applied to the dashboard and center console, and special trim plates featuring the edition number and FUTURA2000's signature are also found on the door sills.
Additionally, Dakota leather, tailored to FUTURA2000's design concept, is used for the front M Sport seats.

The Japanese specification features right-hand drive and the MDCT transmission only, with sales limited to 10 units. The price is 10.5 million yen.
