Jaguar Land Rover Japan announced on Monday, December 23, that it has begun accepting orders for the 2020 model year versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs.

The major feature of the 2020 model year Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is the revision of the engine lineup.

The Range Rover will offer two types of 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engines, a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) combining a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine with an electric motor.

Meanwhile, the Range Rover Sport will feature the same engine lineup as the Range Rover, plus a newly developed 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline engine equipped with performance-enhancing technologies such as a 48V mild-hybrid system.

This inline-six engine combines a unique pairing of an electric supercharger supported by a twin-scroll turbocharger with a variable valve lift system, enabling it to feed air into the engine with high efficiency, producing a maximum output of 294kW (400ps) and peak torque of 500Nm.

In terms of safety equipment, an optional Active Cruise Control (ACC) with steering assist has also been newly introduced. This system maintains the vehicle's position in the center of the lane and, at speeds above 30 km/h, can follow the vehicle ahead even on roads without clear lane markings.

The Range Rover is available in 13 body colors, and the Range Rover Sport in 12. Prices start at 14.93 million yen for the Range Rover (Diesel Vogue/258ps) and go up to 32.02 million yen (Gasoline Long Wheelbase SV Autobiography/565ps). The Range Rover Sport ranges from 9.36 million yen (Diesel SE/258ps) to 17.23 million yen (Gasoline SVR).
