Volkswagen's Smallest SUV, the T-Cross, Debuts
Volkswagen Group Japan announced on November 27th the "T-Cross," Volkswagen's smallest compact SUV. Orders for the two commemorative "T-Cross TSI 1st" and "T-Cross TSI 1st Plus" models for the Japanese market began the same day. Deliveries are scheduled for January next year.

The T-Cross is Volkswagen's smallest SUV, with the tagline "The T-est SUV." It utilizes the company's "MQB" modular production platform.
While compact at 4,115mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,580mm tall, it boasts a spacious interior thanks to a long 2,550mm wheelbase, and a class-leading 455-liter cargo capacity.
The 60/40 split-folding rear seats slide forward and back by 14cm, creating a vast 1,281-liter space when folded down.
The exterior is characterized by a commanding bonnet, a wide radiator grille integrated with the headlights, and a horizontal character line along the body sides.
The powertrain features a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder TSI engine producing 85kW (116ps) and 200Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. This combination promises agile driving and excellent fuel economy of 16.9km/L in WLTC mode.
In terms of driver assistance, it incorporates many advanced features found in higher-end models. The launch commemorative models come standard with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop, a pre-collision braking system, and parking assist systems. For comfort, it features the "Discover Pro" infotainment system, enabling connected car functions.
Exterior colors include eight options, such as the new Makena Turquoise Metallic and Dark Petrol. The TSI 1st Plus model offers accent colors in orange, green, and black, allowing for a choice from a total of 21 variations. Pricing starts at ¥2.99 million for the TSI 1st and ¥3.359 million for the TSI 1st Plus.
