The Clubman Arrives with MINI's Fastest Engine Ever
On Thursday, February 13, BMW announced the "MINI John Cooper Works Clubman GP Inspired Edition," a limited-edition Clubman equipped with MINI's fastest engine ever, and began accepting reservations. Of the 299 units produced worldwide, 120 will be sold exclusively in Japan.
From Engine to Suspension and Exterior, Everything is Circuit-Focused
The "MINI John Cooper Works GP," which debuted in 2019 as MINI's fastest model ever, has now inspired a circuit-ready Clubman variant, also released as a limited edition.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder twin-turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 225kW (306ps) and peak torque of 450Nm. With a top speed of 250km/h and equipped with a four-wheel-drive system, it achieves 0-100km/h acceleration in just 4.9 seconds.
The exterior also reflects its circuit-oriented design, paying homage to previous MINI GP models. The body color is Thunder Grey metallic, complemented by a silver roof and Chili Red mirror caps, a signature combination for the MINI GP.
The surrounds of the headlights and taillights, as well as the trim around the front grille, are finished in piano black, creating a sporty yet sophisticated impression. The aggressive stance is further enhanced by 19-inch John Cooper Works Circuit Spoke two-tone wheels.
In addition to the D-pillar on the exterior, the interior features "GP Inspired" emblems on the armrests, adding exclusive design touches befitting a limited edition.
Advanced driver assistance systems are also included. Standard safety features comprise Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Forward Collision Warning, and Collision Mitigation Braking. The car also comes standard with a Head-Up Display and LED headlights for enhanced visibility.
Further amenities include a rearview camera and a navigation system operable via either the touch panel or the MINI Controller on the center console.
With only 120 units allocated for Japan, the price is set at 6.15 million yen. Deliveries are expected to commence around July.
