A Manual Transmission Model for the Rear-Engine Twingo

Renault Japon has added the manual transmission model "Twingo S" to its compact "Twingo" lineup and commenced sales.

Engine Changed to a 1.0-Liter 3-Cylinder

The Twingo, which has adopted a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive (RR) layout since the current model in 2017, now welcomes its long-awaited manual transmission model. The "Twingo S" combines a 5-speed manual gearbox with a lightweight body weighing just 950kg.

Unlike the 0.9-liter turbo engine in the automatic transmission model, the powertrain features a 1.0-liter inline 3-cylinder DOHC engine, producing a maximum output of 54kW (73ps) and peak torque of 95Nm (9.3kgm). The wheels are fitted with exclusive 15-inch wheel covers, enhancing its sporty design.

Furthermore, as a new feature, it is equipped with the "Easy Link" multimedia system. This system allows access to various smartphone functions via a 7-inch touchscreen through smartphone mirroring, enabling voice control using Siri or Google Assistant.

The body is available in five colors, including Mango Yellow and Blue Dragée, with a price of 1.79 million yen.
