World Premiere of the Second-Generation Levorg Prototype
On Wednesday, October 23rd, Subaru unveiled the prototype of its new Levorg at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, which opened the same day.
Equipped with a Newly Developed 1.8-Liter Horizontally-Opposed Direct-Injection Turbo Engine (4th Generation)
The prototype of the second-generation Levorg, scheduled for release in Japan in the latter half of 2020, made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The design adopts "BOLDER," a new design concept signifying "more daring." It presents a sharper impression than the current model.
In terms of technology, it features the new-generation EyeSight system, comprising a newly developed stereo camera and four radar units front and rear. Additionally, it incorporates a connected service that links in case of emergency, along with support for functions like deceleration before curves and hands-off driving assistance in traffic jams, utilizing high-precision maps and locators available on highways.
The powertrain is equipped with a newly developed 1.8-liter horizontally-opposed direct-injection turbo engine, the fourth generation of its kind. Subaru claims that by employing lean burn technology, it achieves both acceleration performance and environmental efficiency, leading to a torquey driving experience.
The platform is the "SUBARU GLOBAL PLATFORM (SGP)," adopted from the fifth-generation Impreza announced in 2016, enhanced with a "full inner frame structure" that contributes to high rigidity. This evolution of the SGP is said to lead to both controllability and a refined feel.
The Tokyo Motor Show 2019 is open to the public until Monday, November 4th (public holiday).
