Mercedes-Benz Japan has improved the powertrains and other features of the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, and has begun sales.

Two new powertrains are being introduced with the improved E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.

The "E200" and "E200 Sport" models feature the "M264" 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine, which produces a maximum output of 135kW (184ps) and a maximum torque of 280Nm, combined with the new "BSG (Belt-driven Starter Generator)" and a 48V electrical system.

The BSG, which functions as both a starter and generator, and the 48V electrical system store electricity generated through regenerative braking and other means in a approximately 1kWh lithium-ion battery. By providing up to 160Nm of power assistance when needed, it contributes to vibration-free engine starts, smooth and powerful acceleration, and improved fuel efficiency.

The newly established "E300 Sport" model is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine, also from the M264 engine family used in the E200. Similar to the 1.5-liter version, it employs a twin-scroll turbocharger and the "Camtronic" variable valve lift system, which Mercedes-Benz claims enables smooth acceleration from low to high RPMs. Compared to the previous E300 Coupe Sport, the maximum output is increased by 10kW (13ps) to 190kW (258ps).

Prices for the E-Class Coupe range from 7.33 million yen for the "E200" to 12.63 million yen for the "AMG E53 4MATIC+". The improved models are priced at 8.04 million yen for the "E200 Sport" and 8.88 million yen for the "E300 Sport".

For the Cabriolet, prices range from 7.77 million yen for the "E200" to 13.20 million yen for the "AMG E53 4MATIC+". The improved models are priced at 8.41 million yen for the "E200 Sport" and 9.25 million yen for the "E300 Sport".
