One Motor in Front, Two in Rear: A Total of Three Drive Motors
The new e-tron S / e-tron S Sportback features a total battery capacity of 95 kWh. While the base models are equipped with one motor each at the front and rear, the S models boast a total of three drive motors: one 150 kW motor at the front and two 132 kW motors at the rear. This setup delivers a system maximum output of 370 kW and a maximum torque of 973 Nm. In boost mode, it achieves an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds, while maintaining a driving range of 415 km (WLTC mode).
The technical highlight of the S models is the quattro system with electric torque vectoring. During normal driving, two rear motors provide propulsion for increased efficiency. When the driver demands more power, or depending on weather and road conditions, the front motor engages, enabling all-wheel drive. The two rear motors can independently transmit power to the wheels, effectively acting as a rear sports differential. This enhances agility and provides more natural handling characteristics, while also improving cornering performance.
The exterior features S-specific front and rear bumpers, aluminum-look exterior mirror housings, a rear spoiler lip, a wide diffuser insert, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The body sides are accented with Selenite Silver panels, and the wheel arches, which are 2.3 cm wider on each side compared to the base models, emphasize the S models' powerful stance. The slits carved into the wheel arches and the distinctive singleframe grille minimize aerodynamic impact. The Cd values remain consistent with the base models: 0.28 for the SUV type and 0.26 for the Sportback.
Additionally, the Digital Matrix LED headlights, which can control one million digital micromirrors to project high-definition light onto the road with millisecond precision, are available as an option for the first time. The "lane light" illuminates the vehicle's own lane brightly, and the "orientation light" indicates the vehicle's position within the lane, supporting safe lane keeping. During the coming home/leaving home functions, in addition to the signature lights, five types of animations can be projected onto the wall or road surface in front of the vehicle.
Pricing is set at 13.98 million yen for the e-tron S and 14.37 million yen for the e-tron S Sportback.
