An Evolution of the MC12, Marking Maserati's Return to Racing
Maserati has named its new super sports car, which signifies the brand's return to the racing world, "MC20."
The "MC20" is an evolution of the "MC12," which marked Maserati's return to racing after a 37-year hiatus in 2004. The "MC" stands for "Maserati Corse," Maserati's racing division, and "20" signifies 2020, the dawn of a new era for Maserati.
Much like the "MC12," which achieved 22 race victories and secured a total of 14 titles—including Constructors', Drivers', and Team Championships—in the FIA GT Championship from 2004 to 2010, the "MC20" will also be a commemorative model for Maserati, marking its return to the world of racing.
The "MC20" was developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena and will be produced at the refurbished Modena plant.
