A Road-Going Machine Born from Motorsport

Information that Aston Martin, the British representative of super sports cars, would introduce a hardcore model directly from the circuit had been circulating since around last year on overseas scoop websites and the like.

Then, in January of this year, a single image illustration and teaservideo were releasedconfirming the rumors to be true. And on February 18, just before the opening of the Geneva Motor Show 2015, which was announced as the stage for the world premiere, Aston Martin's headquarters revealed the outline of the highly anticipated new model, the "Vantage GT3."

The Vantage GT3 is the most compact and sporty model in Aston Martin's current lineup, active in GT races worldwideand is known as the base car for machines that compete, it is an exclusive machine that has been made lighter and adapted for circuit driving, based on the "Vantage" series. The direct base vehicle is said to be the "V12 Vantage S."

The power unit mounted at the front is a naturally aspirated 6-liter V12 based on the V12 Vantage S. Fine-tuning, such as the adoption of magnesium intake manifolds, lightweight magnesium torque tubes, and a titanium exhaust system, has been carried out, bringing its maximum power to 600ps, exceeding that of the V12 Vantage S by 27ps. The transmission is a paddle-operated 7-speed sequential "Sportshift III."

On the other hand, the vehicle weight has been reduced by 100kg compared to the V12 Vantage S through the use of carbon fiber front fenders and hood, as well as a compact, high-output, race-derived lithium-ion battery, bringing the total to 1,565kg. Furthermore, leveraging know-how gained from motorsport, the chassis has been meticulously tuned, with the dedicated Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires being a key component.

For 100 Select Owners

However, what is most striking in the official photos released is the exterior. Its aggressive appearance bears a strong resemblance to the racing versions of the Vantage series throughout history. It conveys a deeper sense of racing lineage than the hardcore models from rivals like Ferrari and Lamborghini have shown.

Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer is said to have commented on the Vantage GT3 as follows: "Motorsport is in our blood. The Vantage GT3 embodies the know-how cultivated in top-level motorsport as an exclusive road car. The Vantage GT3 is an example of our uncompromising design. Both on public roads and on the circuit, only 100 select owners will be able to experience our special engineering."

The Vantage GT3, which will be produced in a limited run of only 100 units for the world, is scheduled to begin delivery in the third quarter of 2015.

Along with the Aston Martin exclusive limited model "Vulcan", which is also expected to debut at the Geneva show, it is sure to be a highlight of the show.
