Current991-generation Porsche 911 Carreraalso sees the addition of the sportier model, " GTS" and simultaneously, reservations have commenced in Japan.
The new "911 GTS" will be released simultaneously in four variations, combining coupe and cabriolet body types with rear-wheel drive (RR) and all-wheel drive (4WD). Its character positions it between the "911 Carrera S" and the road-legal "911 GT3" designed primarily for circuit driving, making it the sportiest grade within the 911 lineup focused on public roads.
The engine in the 911 GTS delivers a maximum output of 430 ps (316 kW), which is 30 ps more than the 911 Carrera S. It comes standard with the PASM active damping system, lowered by 10mm, along with the Sport Chrono package. In combination with the 7-speed PDK, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds for the coupe and 4.2 seconds for the cabriolet. Top speeds exceed 300 km/h for all models, led by the 306 km/h of the 911 Carrera GTS equipped with a manual transmission.
While enhancing acceleration and top speed, fuel consumption remains unchanged from the 911 Carrera S, at 9.5-8.7 L/100 km (10.5-11.5 km/L) for the 911 Carrera GTS.
The exterior adopts the wider rear track and wheel arches of the "911 Carrera 4" body, regardless of drivetrain. Sporty black accents adorn the bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), the GTS air intake screen, and the chrome-finished exhaust tailpipes. The center-lock 20-inch wheels are also finished in matte black.
The interior features exclusive Alcantara on the steering wheel, the lower half of the dashboard, and the inner door panels. Alcantara is also used for the central part of the front leather seats, which bear the GTS logo on the headrests. This is a specification shared with other GTS models, including the "Cayman GTS, Boxster GTS".
In addition to these features, numerous options such as the sports exhaust system that produces a distinctive GTS sound are included as standard. Despite this, the price increase is only around 1.7 to 1.9 million yen over the Carrera S, reflecting a strategic pricing approach.
Prices including consumption tax are 17.02 million yen for the RR coupe "911 Carrera GTS" and 18.27 million yen for the 4WD "911 Carrera 4 GTS." For the open-top models, the RR "911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet" is 19.23 million yen, and the 4WD "911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet" is 20.17 million yen. All Japanese specification models come exclusively with the 7-speed PDK, and both left-hand and right-hand drive positions are available.
