Deploying Food Trucks and Campervans to Offer Free Meals and Rest Spaces
The support activities being sponsored by the two Toyota Group companies are those organized by Mellow Inc., which operates a food truck business, and Carstay Inc., which runs a campervan sharing service.
Beginning in early May, these activities will involve Mellow dispatching food trucks and Carstay dispatching campervans to hospitals in Tokyo and the greater Kanto region, offering complimentary meals and temporary rest spaces to healthcare workers engaged in the treatment of COVID-19.
The two Toyota Group companies will contribute a portion of the funding for these support activities. Denso Corporation has also endorsed the initiative, providing its "Cleverin for Vehicles" for disinfection and deodorization inside the campervans free of charge.
The Toyota Group is considering measures from various angles to help curb the spread of infection and support medical frontlines, aiming to act swiftly.
