High Performance on Par with the 6.3-Liter V8 from AMG

Details of this EV version of the SLS AMG have not yet been fully revealed, but it is said to feature four motors, each mounted near the wheels on the body side. In-wheel motors were apparently avoided to minimize unsprung weight. The battery is a lithium-ion unit (48 kWh capacity, 400V) and will be positioned in the space between the seats and the floor.

The combined maximum output from these four motors is 392 kW (533 ps), with a peak torque of 880 Nm (89.8 kgm). The 0-100 km/h acceleration is estimated to be an astonishing 4 seconds. While the gasoline model is equipped with AMG's 6.3-liter V8, this EV version promises comparable high performance.

Although its market availability has not yet been confirmed, the fact that it is being developed concurrently with the gasoline model suggests a high probability. Its potential will further increase as infrastructure develops.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, we arrive at two Germans, Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz, as pioneers. It goes without saying that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for the automotive society. The car companies they founded were sometimes seen as rivals, but to overcome the post-World War I recession, they joined forces, and Daimler-Benz AG was established through their merger in 1926.

The name "Mercedes," given to the products, originated when Emil Jellinek, a Daimler customer, named the cars after his eldest daughter in exchange for taking over overseas sales. The trademark was registered by Daimler in 1902.

Thus born, Mercedes, and subsequently Mercedes-Benz, has continued to lead the automotive world by actively introducing cutting-edge technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View, consistently remaining at the forefront of automotive development.
