DS Automobiles has announced it will be the first automotive brand in the world to introduce ChatGPT service. All DS models, including the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7, and DS 9, will be eligible, and in Japan, it will be standard equipment on models shipped from mid-April.

DS Automobiles began a trial introduction of ChatGPT service in October 2023. When combined with voice recognition, it allowed users to enjoy generative AI in their cars, leading to a more than 50% increase in voice recognition usage, prompting the decision to make it standard equipment.

The ChatGPT service can be installed on the company's infotainment system, the "DS IRIS system," and is available in 18 countries and 13 languages that support voice recognition, including Japanese, French, English, and German.

Specific applications for ChatGPT include receiving advice to enhance driving and travel experiences, such as "What tourist spots are there in this area?" or "I'm with my 10-year-old son and have two hours to spend; what do you recommend doing at this castle? Please guide me there."

Furthermore, by making requests like "Create a story set in this location with this person as the protagonist," it becomes possible to learn various things or enjoy entertainment without taking your eyes off the road or your hands off the steering wheel while driving.

This ChatGPT function is provided as part of the "Connect Plus Package" and will be standard equipment on all DS Automobiles models for three years. Additionally, other Stellantis brands, such as Citroën, are planned to follow.

Generative AI has now entered the automotive world, promising to make daily life more convenient and driving even more enjoyable.
