Bentley Unveils the New Continental GT Speed Convertible
On April 14, Bentley unveiled the new Continental GT Speed Convertible, the pinnacle of open-top grand tourers.
Cabin Quietness Matches Previous GT Coupe
This Speed model is a high-performance version of the Continental GT Convertible, the benchmark for convertible grand tourers, with its power and driver-focused setup elevated to the highest level.
The powertrain is a refined version of Bentley's renowned 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine, producing an impressive 659 ps—an increase of 24 ps—and 900 Nm of torque. This enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h.
The transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch unit. In 'Sport mode,' it shifts twice as fast, delaying upshifts and advancing downshifts to keep the powerful 12-cylinder engine in its power band for longer.
The bespoke roof folds in a Z-shape, allowing for open or closed configurations in just 19 seconds. A single touch of a button transforms the luxurious coupe into an open-top grand tourer.
Improvements to the sealing system and acoustic treatments have reduced noise levels by 3 decibels at typical cruising speeds compared to the previous model. Furthermore, a new combination of roof insulation and opening/closing mechanisms achieves cabin quietness on par with the previous Continental GT Coupe.
There are seven roof colors available, including modern interpretations of traditional British tweed patterns, as well as black, blue, claret, and grey. The roof liner comes in eight finishes, such as 'New Red' and 'Magnolia'.
The exterior is characterized by sports sill, dark-tinted grille, Speed badges, and exclusive 22-inch forged Speed model wheels.
Inside, the Alcantara steering wheel and the Speed badge on the passenger fascia blend seamlessly with the Speed-exclusive color split, finished in leather and Alcantara.
The interior offers a choice of 15 main leather colors and 11 secondary leather colors. The 'Diamond in Diamond' quilting and the 'Speed' embroidery on the headrests hint at its status as the most powerful Continental GT Convertible. Additionally, a monotone color split in Alcantara and leather is available as a no-cost option.
The price is 37.3 million yen. Orders have already begun in Japan, with deliveries scheduled for autumn this year or later.
