Production to Expand to Approximately 70,000 Units Per Month

Toyota has designated its efforts to support medical professionals working day and night to diagnose and treat COVID-19 as the "Kokoro Hakobu Project."
The "Kokoro Hakobu Project" originally referred to the ongoing support activities carried out by Toyota Motor Corporation and its employees to aid victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Now, in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus, Toyota is extending this project to support medical facilities.
In addition to Toyota Motor Corporation, group companies have also begun producing face shields. Toyota Motor East Japan provided 3,000 units to Miyagi Prefecture on April 20th, while Toyota Boshoku, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., and Hino Motors have started trial production. Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. and Hino Motors have begun supplying nearby medical institutions.
Toyota Industries is also scheduled to begin production of 10,000 units per month (approximately 500 units per day) from April 29th, and Toyota Auto Body is considering starting production by mid-May. Consequently, the Toyota Group plans to expand production to approximately 70,000 units per month (about 3,600 units per day) going forward.
