The Fastest Open-Top in the C-Segment

Developed based on the Audi "A3 Cabriolet" announced at theFrankfurt Motor Showin 2013, the "S3 Cabriolet" shares the same 2.0 TFSI engine that produces a maximum output of 221kW (300ps) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm (38.7kgm) as the hatchback and sedan "S3", along with Audi's signature quattro all-wheel-drive system. When you think of a four-wheel-drive convertible in this class, it's a rare sight that's hard to recall from other manufacturers.

The 2-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine, mounted transversely at the front, produces 221kW (300ps) between 5,500 and 6,200rpm, and 380 Nm (38.7kgm) between 1,800 and 5,500rpm. Despite a weight of 1,620kg, it offers sustained acceleration across the entire rev range. It reaches 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h, electronically limited. It is, quite literally, the fastest open-top car in the C-segment.



This 2.0 TFSI engine has a bore and stroke of 82.5 x 92.8mm, with a total displacement of 1,984cc. It features aluminum pistons and high-strength connecting rods, along with a cylinder head made of aluminum and silicon alloy, making it extremely lightweight while offering high thermal stability and strength. The turbocharger allows for a maximum boost pressure of 1.2 bar and incorporates a large intercooler. The transmission is Audi's own 6-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Fuel economy is an impressive 14.0 km/liter on the NEDC cycle, with CO2 emissions of 165g/km, which are exceptionally good figures for a high-performance engine in the 300ps class.

Deliveries Scheduled to Begin in Germany This Summer

The body dimensions are 4,430mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,390mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The S3-derived body design is based on the three-door model. The Singleframe grille features an aluminum surround, and the left and right air intakes below the bumper are also adorned with decorative elements matching this frame design. Furthermore, the combination of aluminum strips on the windshield frame and beltline, along with the aluminum trim on the door mirror housings, are exclusive features for the Cabriolet.

The highlight is the electro-hydraulic soft top, a conventional design. The frame, made of magnesium, aluminum, and high-strength steel, achieves significant weight reduction. The interior incorporates a sound-insulating foam layer to reduce noise levels during driving.

Three top colors are available, allowing for coordination with the body color. The top can be opened or closed while driving at speeds up to 50km/h, with the process taking approximately 18 seconds. In the event of an accident, the active rollover system deploys to protect occupants from rollover incidents.



The chassis features S3-specific suspension, lowered by 25mm, and is fitted with lightweight 8J x 18 alloy wheels in a five-parallel-spoke design with a machined silver finish, shod with 225/40R18 tires. Optional 19-inch wheels and red brake calipers with "S3" logos are also available.

The interior features distinctive stitching on the trim and leather seats equipped with special pigments that suppress surface temperature rise even in direct sunlight. These seats are based on a mix of pearl Nappa leather and fabric, with optional combinations including Alcantara and pearl Nappa leather, or fine Nappa leather and velvet. S Sport seats with embossed S3 logos and diamond stitching can also be selected.

With the quattro system, the S3 Cabriolet boasts an ideal front-to-rear static weight distribution of 56:44. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Germany this summer, with prices announced starting from 48,500 Euros.
