Honda Releases 3D Data of Past Concept Cars



Honda has released 3D data for its past concept cars. These can be freely downloaded and used with 3D printers and other tools.

Porsche "Cayman" from the other dayFollowing the Porsche "Cayman" from the other day, Honda has released 3D data for its past concept cars. They are available for download on a special website.

The distributed data is in STL format, making it usable with 3D printers, which have become increasingly popular in recent years. Currently available are five types of data: the "FSR Concept" from 1994, "FUYA-JO" (Sleepless City) from 1999, "KIWAMI" from 2003, "PUYO" from 2007, and the "NSX Concept" from 2013.NSX Conceptfive types.


The released data complies with the new copyright rules, Creative Commons 4.0, with clear stipulations for "Attribution" and "Non-Commercial Use Only." Within these terms, you can create models of any scale using a 3D printer, import the data into 3D software to enjoy as virtual model cars with custom colors and modifications, or incorporate them into your own 3D videos, among other possibilities.


This release of data is part of Honda's initiative to promote "monozukuri" (the art of making things). The company hopes to foster future creators by providing digital assets that allow for virtual experiences.
