The Range Rover Evoque is the smallest and lightest model in the Range Rover lineage. This new Range Rover is a premium SUV that combines a compact body with a luxurious interior and the off-road capability that signifies its exceptional performance.

Land Rover garnered attention in 2008 with the unveiling of the hybrid concept car "LRX" at the Detroit Show. The Range Rover Evoque, which debuts as a production vehicle based on that car, features a dynamic form characterized by its distinctive tapered floating roofline and shoulder line.

The LRX was also a compact vehicle, approximately 150mm shorter than the Freelander, a flagship model of Land Rover. The announcement of the Evoque, touted as the smallest in Range Rover history, reflects the clear evolutionary direction towards more compact vehicles and environmental consideration.

The engine is a new 2-liter direct-injection Si4 gasoline engine, differing from the larger displacement engines characteristic of previous Range Rovers. However, it achieves a maximum output of 240ps through improvements in combustion efficiency, etc., thanks to the adoption of a twin variable valve timing system.

It also incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as Park Assist for automatic parallel parking, Blind Spot Monitoring System, and a Surround Camera System that uses five digital cameras to display nearly 360 degrees around the vehicle.

Sales are announced to begin in summer 2011 in 160 countries, with a planned price around $40,000.
