An SUV That Embodies Jaguar
This September,Frankfurt ShowJaguar's crossover concept model "C-X17," which had its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, is drawing significant attention as Jaguar's first SUV.
The body, which adopts Jaguar's newly developed aluminum monocoque structure for the next generation, boasts impressive dimensions of 4,718mm in length, 1,959mm in width, and 1,649mm in height. Its exterior is both sporty and elegant, exuding a distinct Jaguar character despite its tall SUV form. This is likely due to the integration of Jaguar design icons throughout, such as the grille design derived from the distinctive nose of theXJand the side lines reminiscent of theF-TYPE.
The C-X17's interior is equally distinctive. The four lightweight bucket seats are arranged to provide ample personal space. A panoramic roof that allows occupants to enjoy the sky above further enhances the sense of openness within the cabin.
A unique center tunnel, extending from the instrument panel to the rear seats, is positioned between the seats. Its upper surface features a large touchscreen for the rear passengers. The "Interactive Surface Control" system, which enables information sharing among all occupants via front and rear monitors connected by in-car Wi-Fi, is also a notable feature.

An Evolving SUV Concept
This highly anticipated concept model, the "C-X17," has already undergone further evolution. Following the unveiling of a new "Liquid Aluminum" color at the Dubai Motor Show in early November, a new version was announced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China at the end of November. This model, presented as a concept for the Chinese market, is characterized by its more luxurious specifications and a shift from a four-seater to a five-seater configuration.
Of course, the changes don't stop there. The high-end Meridian audio system has been upgraded from a 12-speaker system to a 28-speaker system with 3D surround sound capabilities. These are custom units tuned by Meridian specifically for the C-X17.
While the "Interactive Surface Control" multimedia system has been retained, the rear unit has been downsized to accommodate the five-seater layout and is positioned in front of the rear center seat. As before, the front and rear monitors are connected via in-car Wi-Fi, allowing for information sharing.
The body color also features a new shade, adorned in a gorgeous "Liquid Gold" finish, tailored for the Chinese market.
The C-X17 was originally developed to showcase the capabilities of the next-generation aluminum monocoque structure, and it has already been announced that a new sedan, scheduled for release in 2015, will be the first model to feature this body. However, the strong response to the long-awaited SUV has prompted the C-X17 to continue evolving. While fan anticipation is high, Jaguar has yet to officially announce the production version of its first SUV.
