Alpine Japan has announced the A110S, a sportier grade of the mid-ship sports car A110.

The A110S, unveiled at this year's Tokyo Motor Show 2019, will go on sale.

Alpine, which ceased operations in 1995 and revived with the A110 in 2016, has added the sportier A110S to its model lineup, which includes the lightweight and agile "Pure" and the everyday-practical "Lignege".

Compared to the A110, the powertrain has been tuned up by 40ps, producing a maximum output of 292ps and a maximum torque of 320Nm from its 1.8-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine. To improve performance, the turbocharger's boost pressure has been increased by 0.4 bar. Power is sent to the rear via a 7-speed AT (DCT) transmission. It achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds.

The body, like the A110, features an aluminum structure. However, by altering the rigidity of the springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, and applying dedicated tuning, high-speed stability and quick steering response have been achieved. Additionally, the brakes are equipped with powerful Brembo brake calipers and 320mm diameter bi-material discs.

The exterior also adopts a dedicated design. The emblem on the rear pillar is now carbon fiber, the front and rear emblems are changed to black, and the brake calipers are painted a sporty orange.

While the A110 featured blue stitching, the A110S has orange stitching, accentuating the refined black interior. Carbon fiber is also effectively used on the roof and other areas, while aluminum footrests and pedals enhance the sporty impression.

In addition to Blue Alpine Metallic, the body colors include Blanc Irisé Metallic and a dedicated matte finish, Gris Tonnerre Matte, for a total of three options. Prices start from ¥8,990,000.
