It's possible to order a 718 Cayman GT4 in the same specification
Tetsu Ikusawa, a legendary racing driver who competed on the world stage during the dawn of Japanese motorsport, winning the 2nd (1964) and 4th (1967) Japan Grands Prix and participating in European races such as the European F2 Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His Porsche 906 (chassis number 145), which won the 4th Japan Grand Prix in 1967, has been recreated as the "718 Cayman GT4 Tribute 906" on the same mid-engine sports car, the 718 Cayman GT4.
The Porsche 906 is a racing car whose development was led by Ferdinand Piëch, grandson of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche. Imported to Japan in 1966, shortly after its debut, it became the car that sparked Porsche's recognition in Japan when Mr. Ikusawa achieved overall victory driving the 906 at the 4th Japan Grand Prix held the following year.
The recreation of this "legendary racing car" was made possible by "Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur," a program that allows customers to order a one-of-a-kind Porsche, realizing bespoke details and customizations. It is a program that emphasizes every step, offering over 100 combinations of leather and stitching colors and handling high-quality materials with precise handcraftsmanship.
Porsche Japan has recreated the "718 Cayman GT4 Tribute 906" with special paint using the "Paint to Sample (PTS)" system for the exterior, and details inherited from the 906 such as racing numbers. Furthermore, it features special touches like red stitching on the interior, and a course map of the Fuji Speedway from that era and a victory commemorative logo on the headrest.
While Porsche Japan has no plans to sell this "718 Cayman GT4 Tribute 906," it is possible to order a vehicle with the same specifications. Additionally, this car will be specially exhibited at Porsche Experience Center Tokyo from August 23rd (Tuesday) to 31st (Wednesday).
