Dedicated Race for the "M2 CS Racing" Circuit Model Begins
BMW Group Japan will launch the "M2 CS Racing Series," a one-make race featuring the circuit-exclusive "M2 CS Racing" vehicle, starting in April 2022. This will be the only official race in Japan organized by BMW Group Japan.
Asia's First Dedicated Race Adopting Technical Regulations from Germany
A dedicated race for the "M2 CS Racing," a circuit-exclusive model developed by BMW M and an entry-level model for customer racing, will commence in April 2022 at Sportsland SUGO in Miyagi Prefecture, running through December of the same year.
The "M2 CS Racing" is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine and a 7-speed Drivelogic transmission controlled by motorsport-specific software. It produces a maximum torque of 550 Nm, with peak output adjustable between 280-300 ps according to race regulations. It is also possible to tune the car up to 450 ps by adding individual parts after purchase. Models with up to 450 ps are also available.
Furthermore, the "M2 CS Racing" comes standard with a mechanical LSD (limited-slip differential) featuring a preload-type individual cooling system to suppress rotational speed differences between the drive shafts and tires, which are manufactured specifically for the "M2 CS Racing," making it a model developed for circuit driving.
The "M2 CS Racing Series," launching in April 2022, is the first dedicated race in Asia to adopt technical regulations provided by BMW Germany, based on the "M2 CS Racing Cup" currently held in Europe.
Co-organized with MINI Challenge Japan under the umbrella of "BMW & MINI Racing," it will be held as a stylish and sporty luxury event.
The series begins at Sportsland SUGO in April, followed by Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture in May, Twin Ring Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture in July, Okayama International Circuit in September, and concluding with the final race at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture in December.
Eligibility requires a JAF-certified domestic A-class license or higher. Participation is possible for the entire season or on a spot basis.
