iDrive Navigation System Now Standard

The 1 Series, the only rear-wheel-drive model in the premium compact segment, is known for its superior handling. The current, second-generation model, updated in 2011, features a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine, pursuing a sporty driving experience.

For this specification update, the "116i" and "120i" models are now equipped with the "iDrive Navigation System." A large, high-resolution 8.8-inch wide display is integrated into the center console. This allows for intuitive operation via the controller on the center console, without needing to touch the screen.

Furthermore, a new communication module is a notable addition. This enables "BMW SOS Call," which connects to an SOS call center in the event of an accident to expedite arrangements with emergency services, and "BMW TeleService," which automatically notifies authorized BMW dealers of information such as maintenance needs or low battery voltage. These features are now standard on all 1 Series models except for the 116i Standard and 120i Standard.




Additionally, the "Driving Assistant Package" is available as an option for all models. This package includes functions that apply collision avoidance and mitigation braking when approaching pedestrians, and "Lane Departure Warning," which alerts the driver to unintentional lane departures.
