In 2012,Paris Motor Show, atdebuted, and today, the fourth generation of Renault's signature four-door, five-seater compact hatchback, the Lutecia, has finally been announced in Japan. Its design originates from the "DeZir" concept car, symbolizing LOVE, which emerged from this concept. This is the first production model to be released in line with the same design strategy. The keywords are "simple," "sensual," and "warm."

The Japanese market models are available in three grades: "Intense" (¥2,380,000), "Zen" (¥2,150,000), and "Actif" (¥1,998,000). All are equipped with Renault's most advanced powertrain: a 1.2-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine. This is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (EDC). Maximum output is 88kW (120ps) at 4,900 rpm, and maximum torque is 190Nm (19.4kgm) at 2,000 rpm.

In addition to this powertrain, the car features a design that reduces air resistance by closing the flap in front of the radiator when necessary, as well as reduced engine and tire rolling resistance. It also includes an "ECO Mode" switch that adjusts engine torque and accelerator response to improve fuel economy. Although the official fuel consumption figures for Japan are not yet confirmed, European figures record 5.2 L/100km (approximately 19.2 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 120g/km.

Simultaneously, the track has been widened by 45mm at the front and 50mm at the rear compared to the previous model, the wheelbase has been extended by 25mm, and the suspension boasts high torsional rigidity with a high-stiffness subframe, resulting in improved handling, straight-line stability, and ride comfort.





Each grade differs in its equipment level. The top-tier "Intense" grade includes privacy glass, automatic air conditioning, a center armrest, and rear parking sensors, in addition to the "Zen" and "Actif" equipment. It features 17-inch alloy wheels. The "Zen" grade differs from the "Actif" by including front fog lamps, electrically folding door mirrors, automatic headlights, and automatic wipers, and is fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels. The "Actif" grade has 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers.

Furthermore, the "Intense" grade offers an optional "Pack Couleur" that allows for combinations of seven body colors, four interior colors, and four wheel colors. All grades have an available dealer option called "Pack Design," a set of interior parts, enabling customization.

The new Lutecia, including the special edition model, will go on sale starting September 24th. It is also reported that those who pre-order before the release date will receive benefits such as optional packages and design books.
