The Most Hardcore Seven for the Road

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the "Seven" becoming Caterham's sports car. To commemorate this, Caterham has announced its ultimate Seven.

The "Seven 620R," to be unveiled by Caterham at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, is powered by a 2-litre, four-cylinder Ford Duratec engine producing a maximum output of 310 bhp. Paired with a 6-speed sequential transmission, it achieves 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in under 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Caterham positions the "Seven 620R" as its top-tier model, succeeding the previous flagship, the "Seven Superlight R500."

Its performance will be showcased at Goodwood for its debut, with Caterham F1 driver Charles Pic and reserve driver Alexander Rossi scheduled to take the wheel.

In addition to the sporty R pack, an S pack with a slightly milder setup is also planned for the "620," with its release expected within the year.

The "Seven 620R" is priced at £49,995 (approximately ¥7.5 million). Deliveries are expected within the year. Standard equipment includes an LSD, carbon fibre canards, carbon fibre interior trim and seats, and a carbon aero screen. The suspension and brakes are bespoke, and the lightweight alloy wheels are fitted with front 185/55R13 and rear 215/55R13 tires.

While the "620R" is positioned as Caterham's most hardcore road car, the company also plans to release a more accessible, efficient, and affordable entry-level Seven this autumn.
