The Elegantly Dressed XY
Previously, the lineup included the "208 Allure" with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, the "208 Cielo" with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder, and the "208 GT" with a 1.6-liter turbo.Peugeot 208.Paris Motor Show 2012Atworld-premieredThe "208 XY" and "208 GTi," which had their world premiere, will finally go on sale in Japan on July 1st. Through dress-up and tuning, each model has been crafted to have a completely different image.
The concept for the 208 XY is "Luxury sport that resonates with adult sensibilities."
Based on the "208 GT," it is equipped with exclusive 17-inch aluminum wheels, a chrome-finished front grille, and an emblem on the rear quarter pillar. Both body colors are new shades exclusive to the 208 XY: "Dark Blue" and "Purple Night."
Additionally, exclusive features include a panoramic glass sunroof with a large opening, ambient lighting, and leather/Alcantara/fabric combination sport seats. Like the exterior, the interior also creates an elegant and unique atmosphere.
The power unit is the same as the GT: a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 156ps, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Pure Sports GTi
Meanwhile, the 208 GTi is a hot model positioned as a "pure sports compact," tracing its lineage back to the "205 GTi" that was successful in the "WRC" and "Paris-Dakar Rally" in the 1980s.
The power unit is an inline four-cylinder 1.6-liter turbo engine, producing the highest output in the 208 range at 200ps. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The chassis is designed to handle this power, and combined with exclusive sports suspension, it has been tuned as a model focused on driving performance.
Equipment includes exclusive sports seats, an exhaust finisher, and the revived GTi emblem on the rear quarter pillar, reminiscent of the 205 GTi.
The price for the 208 XY is 2.69 million yen, and for the 205 GTi, it is 2.99 million yen.
