Aston Martin Rapide S Unveiled in Japan

Three new models representing Aston Martin's 100th anniversary. The newFollowing the DB9 and Vanquish,the Rapide S has finally arrived in Japan.

The Dynamism of a Sports Car and the Comfort of a Limousine

The interior and exterior, imbued with Aston Martin's aesthetic, the ideal front-to-rear weight distribution with the engine at the front and gearbox at the rear, and the high quality as a GT sports car.

The Aston Martin Rapide S is the successor to the Rapide, embodying Aston Martin's unique philosophy in a four-door body.

OPENERS has already reported on theGeneva Motor Showat thedebut,and alsoJun Nishikawa's test drive reviewmany of you may already be familiar with. Visually, the presence or absence of a split front grille is an easy way to distinguish between the old and new models.

Additionally, a new "Exterior Carbon Pack" is available, which enhances the lip spoiler, rear diffuser, and mirror caps with carbon parts.

The new 6-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine, codenamed AM11, is mounted on a lightweight aluminum frame. While the displacement is the same as before, the maximum output has increased by a remarkable 81 ps. Simultaneously, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 7 percent, from 355g/km for the Rapide to 332g/km.

Furthermore, by lowering the engine's mounting position, both a lower center of gravity and enhanced collision safety are achieved. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic "Touchtronic 2."

With its 3-stage adaptive damping system, the Rapide S achieves both the dynamism of a sports car and the comfort of a limousine. The starting price in Japan is ¥23,058,457.
