The body dimensions are similar to the coupe model, measuring 4,715mm in length, 1,970mm in width, and 1,295mm in height. The weight increases by 170kg to 1,863kg due to the convertible roof.
While the 5.2-liter V12 twin-turbo engine remains unchanged with a maximum output of 725ps/6,500rpm and a maximum torque of 900Nm/1,800-5,000rpm, the 0-100km/h acceleration is officially stated as 3.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe. However, the top speed remains the same at 340km/h.
The fabric roof, which creates a beautifully flowing roofline, is an electrically operated system with eight layers of insulation and soundproofing. It opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds. Operation can also be performed from outside the vehicle within a 2-meter range.
Eight exterior color options are available, including Bordeaux Red, Atlantic Blue, and Titanium Grey, along with six types of Alcantara headliners for the interior, catering to customer personalization.
Durability testing is also thorough, with over 100,000 opening and closing cycles conducted under harsh conditions such as the scorching Death Valley and the freezing Arctic Circle. Additionally, tests were performed to simulate 10 years of aging in just one month.
The exterior features a "Q-link" element behind the front wheels to manage airflow along the body sides. The "AeroBlade II" virtual spoiler system, modified to accommodate the fabric roof, increases rear downforce. It is claimed to achieve 177kg of downforce at top speed, only 3kg less than the coupe.
The windscreen surround is finished in twill carbon, which can also be applied to the tonneau cover and rear waterfall. In the highest specification, tinted carbon fiber can also be selected.
Dr. Andy Palmer, President and Group CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda, commented, "There is no engine sound in the world superior to that of an Aston Martin V12 engine. The DBS Superleggera Volante will be one of the most sensuous driving experiences of any car. The DBS Superleggera captivates super GT enthusiasts worldwide with its alluring form and exceptional performance, and the Volante elevates this concept to an even higher level."
