Lagonda, Aston Martin's brand dedicated to electric vehicles. The "Lagonda All-Terrain Concept" has appeared as a study model that offers a glimpse of its first production model.

While the exterior design of the "Lagonda Vision Concept," unveiled a year ago at the same Geneva show, drew inspiration from the supersonic jet Concorde, the "All-Terrain Concept" took hints from the world of superyachts in its early design stages.Lagonda Vision ConceptThe former aimed to be a car purely for transportation, but the All-Terrain Concept imagines driving on the surface of Mars or in the Scottish Highlands. The beltline, which flows in a curve towards the rear, expresses relaxed elegance, while the powerful form, characteristic of an SUV capable of traversing rough terrain, is also a feature.

The floor housing the batteries offers high rigidity, allowing for the adoption of rear-hinged doors. The roof section opens upwards, ensuring excellent ease of entry and exit. The four seats create an atmosphere of relaxation for all occupants, and the front seats can be rotated towards the rear seats during autonomous driving to create a face-to-face arrangement.

The wide clamshell-shaped rear hatch features a slim, elegant light strip with hidden LED illumination, which emits light downwards and reflects it to create a mystical ambiance. It also has a rear shelf that can be pulled out from the floor, allowing occupants to sit and enjoy the scenery after their drive.

The interior lines and colors are masterfully rendered using perspective techniques inherited from Renaissance artisans. Each element is seamlessly integrated, with air vents, grilles, and speakers concealed from view. However, recognizing the key as a crucial link between the driver and the car, it is presented to float between the front seats via magnetic force, drawing attention to its designated position. The color scheme is predominantly a calm, dark palette, utilizing timeless materials like cashmere, wood, and leather. Visibility is also prioritized, with clear sightlines not only forward and rearward but also upwards.

Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO, commented, "We are embarking on a very exciting new adventure with the All-Terrain Concept. Lagonda plans to produce vehicles as a luxury brand specializing in electric vehicles. This concept car will smartly transport its owners from home to glamorous red carpet events or to remote research facilities." He added that the production model of this car could begin as early as 2022 at the new St Athan plant in Wales, UK.
