The Third-Generation Insight Arrives as a Midsize Sedan

Generous Interior Space and a 519-Liter Trunk

The Insight has arrived as the third generation, now a midsize sedan. The powertrain combines Honda's unique "Sport Hybrid i-MMD" two-motor hybrid system with a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine. The engine produces a maximum output of 80 kW (109 ps) and a maximum torque of 134 Nm (13.7 kgm), while the motor generates a maximum output of 96 kW (131 ps) and a maximum torque of 267 Nm (27.2 kgm). Power is delivered to the front wheels via an electronic continuously variable transmission.

It achieves an impressive 34.2 km/ℓ in JC08 mode fuel economy. Depending on driving conditions, drivers can select between "EV Drive Mode," "Hybrid Drive Mode," and "Engine Drive Mode."

Unlike previous generations, the exterior does not overtly advertise its hybrid status, adopting the character of a midsize sedan with simple character lines.

Inside, the compact Intelligent Power Unit (IPU), essential for hybrid vehicles, is positioned beneath the rear seats, creating a spacious cabin and a 519-liter trunk.

Furthermore, Honda Sensing, a suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, is standard on all grades. This includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, False Start Suppression, Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering System, and Auto High-Beam Headlights.

Available in seven body colors, the price starts at ¥3,261,600 for the entry-level LX grade, ¥3,499,200 for the EX, and ¥3,628,800 for the EX Black Style.
