Honda Begins Accepting Orders for Smart Hydrogen Station


On Wednesday, November 21, Honda announced that it has begun accepting orders for its "Smart Hydrogen Station (SHS) 70MPa," a high-pressure water electrolysis type hydrogen station.

Compact Yet Capable of Full Refueling of the Clarity Fuel Cell with High-Pressure Filling



Honda, which has been focusing on FCV development, including the announcement of the five-seater fuel cell vehicle (FCV) sedan "Clarity Fuel Cell" in 2016, has now started accepting orders for the "Smart Hydrogen Station (SHS) 70MPa," a high-pressure water electrolysis type hydrogen station.

The SHS 70MPa is a device that manufactures, stores, and dispenses high-pressure hydrogen supplied to fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). It achieves a dispensing pressure of 70MPa (megapascals) and a manufacturing pressure of 82MPa, making it the world's first high-pressure water electrolysis type hydrogen station to do so. It has been commercialized after demonstration experiments, utilizing the Ministry of the Environment's support program.

Honda's proprietary high-pressure water electrolysis system, "Power Creator," enables high-pressure conversion without the use of a compressor, allowing for the storage of approximately 15kg of hydrogen within a compact size of depth 2,250 x width 3,700 x height 2,500mm. It produces 2.5kg of hydrogen per day by electrolyzing water using electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, by setting the dispensing pressure at 70MPa, it is now possible to fully refuel the "Clarity Fuel Cell." The Ministry of the Environment's support program can also be utilized for installation.
