Two 105hp Engines
Fiat 500Ldebuted in Europe last July as a 4-door model that inherits the "500" (Cinquecento)'s charming styling.
The 500L lineup has been newly expanded with a model equipped with a 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbodiesel engine producing a maximum output of 105ps, and a model equipped with a 0.9-liter TwinAir turbo gasoline engine also producing a maximum output of 105ps. Both are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The maximum output of the 0.9-liter TwinAir engine is 20ps higher than the 85ps engine mounted in the "500." It produces a maximum torque of 145Nm at 2,000rpm, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 12.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 180km/h.
This engine, which also features the "Start&Stop" idling stop function, boasts excellent environmental performance with a fuel consumption of 4.8ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 112g/km. Furthermore, it includes an ECO mode that improves fuel efficiency at the expense of maximum output, reduced to 98ps, and maximum torque, reduced to 120Nm.
The 1.6-liter MultiJet II diesel engine also has a maximum output of 105ps. It produces a maximum torque of 320Nm at 1,750rpm. Its performance figures are a top speed of 181km/h and 0-100km/h acceleration in 11.3 seconds. It employs third-generation common-rail direct injection and Start&Stop, achieving excellent environmental performance with fuel consumption of 4.5ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 117g/km. To suppress air pollution from exhaust gases, it is equipped with a two-stage exhaust gas purification system using a catalyst and a DPF (filter).
The 500L is already on sale in Europe, having received 38,000 orders in five months. Fiat states that 57 percent of these orders are from customers switching from other brands, and 61 percent are from customers switching from other body types such as sedans and SUVs, proving "how the 500L is a classless presence despite being a compact car."
