A Global Strategic Model Finally Arrives

We previously reported that the Focus would be introduced to Japan, and now the launch timing, pricing, and detailed specifications for the grades being introduced have been released.

The engine is a 2.0-liter direct-injection inline-four producing 170ps and 202Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch "PowerShift" transmission.

Additionally, the newly developed electric power steering system features 250 parameters to adapt to all driving conditions, providing stable steering performance tailored to the situation.

Furthermore, it comes standard with "Torque Vectoring Control," a system that independently controls the left and right front brakes to adjust driving force and assist steering, thereby reducing understeer and enhancing cornering stability.



An interesting feature is the "Active Grille Shutter," which has automatically controlled opening and closing vents in the front grille to regulate airflow to the cooling system and engine bay. This reduces aerodynamic drag during driving. It also helps improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions by closing the shutters shortly after a cold start to quickly bring the engine and coolant to optimal temperature.

The model sold in Japan is the 5-door hatchback "Sport," offered in a single grade. Six body colors are available.
The price is 2.93 million yen. Sales will begin on April 13th at Ford dealerships nationwide.
