Specifications and Prices for 2013 Models Announced

The Jaguar XJ and XF have arrived with a downsized 2-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine following a minor change in their home market. We recently reported on this at OPENERS,Overseas Test Drive by Yasuhisa Shimashitaand now the specifications and prices for the Japanese market 2013 models have finally been announced.

2-Liter Jaguars Finally Arrive in Japan!

As we have reported several times before,Equipped with Downsized EnginesJaguar XF, XJ 2013 ModelsJaguar Land Rover Japan has finally announced the specifications for the Japanese market.

The previous 3-liter naturally aspirated V6 and 5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines have been replaced by a 2-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 240ps and a maximum torque of 340Nm, and a 3-liter supercharged V6 engine producing a maximum output of 340ps and a maximum torque of 450Nm. The 5-liter supercharged V8 engine continues to be offered, resulting in a total of three engine options. These are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

A 12-channel surround system with a total output of 380W is standard. A 15-channel surround system with a total output of 825W, developed by the British audio manufacturer Meridian, is available as an option.

Additionally, two new body colors, Carnelian Red and Satellite Grey, have been added with this minor change, replacing Claret, Vapor Grey, and Kyanite Blue.

Three models are equipped with the 2-liter inline four-cylinder engine, which produces 240ps and 340Nm. The XF 2.0 Luxury and XF 2.0 Premium Luxury, which previously used a 3-liter V6 engine with 243ps and 300Nm, will now feature this new engine, with prices remaining unchanged at 5.95 million yen and 6.94 million yen respectively. The XJ 2.0 Luxury, now with half the displacement of the previous 5-liter V8 engine (385ps, 515Nm), sees its price reduced from 10.1 million yen to 9 million yen.

Similarly, the XF 5.0 Premium Luxury, which previously had a 5-liter V8 engine, will now be powered by a 3-liter supercharged V6 engine producing 340ps and 450Nm, and will be renamed the XF 3.0 Premium Luxury. Its price remains unchanged at 8.29 million yen. The XJ Premium Luxury also replaces its 5-liter engine with a 3-liter engine, with a slight price reduction from 11.6 million yen to 10.9 million yen. The XJ Portfolio, previously equipped with a 5-liter supercharged engine (470ps, 575Nm), now features a 3-liter engine, and the long-wheelbase version, previously available, has been removed from the catalog. The price is reduced from 13.35 million yen to 12.9 million yen.

Both the XFR and XJ Supersport will continue to be equipped with the 5-liter V8 supercharged engine. The price for the XFR remains unchanged at 12 million yen. The XJ Supersport sees a price increase for both models, with the standard model rising from 16.75 million yen to 16.85 million yen, and the long-wheelbase model from 18.15 million yen to 18.25 million yen.
