Autonomous Driving, Evolved in Two Years
The press conference at the Mercedes-Benz booth opened with a performance by a dancing team set to music evoking Japan.
Kintaro Ueno, President of Mercedes-Benz Japan, who took the stage,F015 and Vision Tokyoand emphasized the remarkable evolution of autonomous driving technology over the past two years.
First, the "Concept EQA" is the latest concept model from the company's EV-only brand "EQ," making its Asian debut as a two-door compact car. Its dual motors generate a maximum combined output of 272 hp and boast a maximum range of 400 km.
The sports model, the Mercedes-AMG "Project ONE," was unveiled to commemorate AMG's 50th anniversary.World Premiere at Frankfurt Motor ShowThis model, which had its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, is a monstrous road-legal vehicle equipped with a hybrid turbo engine combining a 1.6-liter V6 gasoline engine with four motors, delivering an astonishing 1,000 hp. It achieves 11,000 rpm at maximum engine speed, accelerates from 0-200 km/h in 6.0 seconds, and has a top speed of 350 km/h.
Additionally, they exhibited the "smart vision EQ fortwo," a fully autonomous vehicle designed for future car-sharing, among other models. A total of 21 models were displayed across the four brands: Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach, and smart.
Furthermore, the "GLC F-CELL," an SUV model combining a fuel cell system with a plug-in hybrid system, was on display. Its range is approximately 450 km, enough to travel from Tokyo to Suzuka.
