The Concept: START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE
Toyota Motor Corporation kicked off the Tokyo Motor Show 2017 with its press conference. Executive Vice President Didier Leroy took the stage before a packed audience of journalists. After drawing laughter with "I am a Toyota speaker, but I am French," he explained that the concept for this year's motor show is "START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE."
In the vast space of the West Exhibition Hall, Toyota showcased its fuel cell vehicle (FCV) concept, designed for a low-carbon society that utilizes hydrogen and renewable energy,Fine Comfort Ride, and a concept car that proposes a new kind of driving enjoyment by merging sports car performance with environmental technology,GR HV SPORTS concept, as well as a new genre of crossover concept that fuses the cargo capacity of a VAN with the robust design of an SUV,Tj CRUISER.
In the realm of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Toyota also exhibited concept cars featuring a four-wheeled model where humans and cars form a partnership,"TOYOTA Concept-爱i" and the pedestrian-scale mobility "TOYOTA Concept 愛I WALK".
Furthermore, the new "Century", a flagship luxury sedan representing Japan equipped with a V8 5.0-liter hybrid system, and the "Crown Concept", which delivers innovative driving performance pursuing "FUN to Drive," are also drawing attention.
In preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, new models are also being developed. Toyota displayed the new "JPN TAXI (already released)", reflecting Japan's spirit of "omotenashi" (hospitality), and a concept model of a fuel cell route bus (FC bus), the "SORA" (scheduled for release in 2018).
