e-Golf Sales by Online Application Only

We have already shared our impressions on OPENERS.e-Golf / Golf GTEhave landed in Japan. Both are based on theminor-changed 7th generation Golfand feature Volkswagen's latest "MQB" production module.

The "e-Golf," Volkswagen's first zero-emission vehicle in Japan, is equipped with a 200V drive battery compatible with both normal and CHAdeMO rapid charging standards. It produces a maximum output of 100 kW (136 PS) and a maximum torque of 290 Nm, with a driving range of 301 km on a single charge.

The PHEV "Golf GTE," on the other hand, combines a 1.4-liter "1.4 TSI" gasoline turbo engine producing a maximum output of 110 kW (150 PS) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, with an electric motor producing a maximum output of 80 kW (109 PS). It is equipped with an 8.7 kWh lithium-ion battery and can travel up to 45 km on electric power alone.

Additionally, there are five driving modes to choose from, including "Battery Charge," which prioritizes charging the drive battery. In "GTE" mode, the engine and motor operate simultaneously to deliver maximum system output for a sporty driving experience.

Both models come standard with safety features such as "Traffic Assist" (traffic jam assist system), "Front Assist" (pre-collision braking system with pedestrian detection), and adaptive cruise control.

Furthermore, various mobile online services are available through "Volkswagen Car-Net," allowing users to search for and reserve charging stations online via telematics functions.

The Golf GTE will be sold through dealerships as usual, but applications for the e-Golf will only be accepted through the dedicated online site until Monday, December 25th, with deliveries scheduled from the end of the year. Both vehicles will be publicly displayed starting Saturday, October 28th at theTokyo Motor Show.

Prices are ¥4.99 million for the e-Golf and ¥4.69 million for the Golf GTE.
