Open Two-Seater Hybrid Sports Car Concept

Details of Toyota's exhibit at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017 are gradually being revealed. Two new vehicles will make their world debut.

The "GR HV SPORTS concept," a two-seater hybrid sports car concept model, evokes the "TS050 HYBRID," Toyota GAZOO Racing's hybrid racing machine competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Its style, which combines the aero-top style found in Toyota's traditional open sports cars like the "Toyota Sports 800" (nicknamed "Yotahachi") and the "Supra," is particularly striking.

The powertrain features the "THS-R (Toyota Hybrid System-Racing)" hybrid technology honed with the "TS050 HYBRID." With the push of a button, it can be switched to manual mode, offering the joy of driving a car with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The interior is also sportily designed. The automatic gear position switch is placed on the center cluster, creating a racing atmosphere.

Crossover Fusing Van Load Capacity with SUV Looks

Meanwhile, the "Tj CRUISER" is a crossover concept that fuses the load capacity of a van with the looks of an SUV. The interior allows the passenger seat to be folded completely flat, enabling the loading of large items up to approximately 3 meters long, such as long surfboards or bicycles.

While the exterior has an SUV style, it features sliding doors for easy access when loading and unloading cargo. Additionally, the bonnet, roof, and fenders are made with a carefree material (reinforced coating) that resists scratches and dirt from carelessly placed objects.

The Tokyo Motor Show will be open to the public from Friday, October 28th to Sunday, November 5th.
